Lee is ready to accept a recommendation from vice-chairman Ehab, who runs Hull on a day-to-day basis, to offer Phelan a chance to manage team affairs full-time.

Phelan added: “Arsenal are a fabulous team with a certain way of playing football and they challenge you all of the time in different areas of the field”.

Fortunately, we’re here to give you a little tip and, if it goes wrong, at least you can blame us and not yourself!

[Xhaka] will play games and every week he is stronger and better.

“We’ve just got to make sure we do our business on the pitch in order to try and keep our early season momentum going”.

Clucas is closing in on 50 starts following a £1.3m move from Chesterfield 14 months ago, and he said: “You try to ignore all the hype that surrounds this division, although I don’t think I’ll ever get exhausted of being described as a Premier League player”.

Hull are level on points with Arsenal, with stand-in manager Mike Phelan doing a brilliant job marshalling his limited resources and are unlikely to be pushed aside by Arsenal, who looked incredibly shaky against Paris Saint-Germain in midweek.

“Overall it’s been a positive week. But overall it is positive, the results are positive”, Wenger told the media. “Our players are enjoying themselves in the Premier League and Saturday’s game is another great one for us to take on board”.

“Everything seems to come back to a deal or non-deal, depending on who’s in charge”.
