Sanders Rallies For Teachout In New Paltz
When pressed on gun control, Faso said he would not support federal legislation to close the so-called gun show loophole where unlicensed dealers can sell firearms without performing background checks.

“It is kind of galling to listen to some of these things but you expect it in politics”, Faso said, calling the missed votes charge “a below the belt kind of thing”.
Faso was asked whether any big names would be rallying for him.
NewsChannel 13 will air the entire debate Friday evening from 7 p.m.to 8 p.m.
Sanders, the independent who ran for president as a Democrat before yielding to Hillary Clinton, told hundreds of ralliers at a park in the Hudson Valley college town of New Paltz that America needs to elect a grassroots-oriented leader who can fight against the entrenched power of moneyed interests.
Faso also managed to get in a dig about Teachout not bothering to vote in her local school board elections this spring.
Teachout, 44, moved to Dutchess County a year ago from New York City, where she is a law professor at Fordham University.
“If Zephyr Teachout is elected to the U.S. Congress – I am very confident that you are going to elect – you will have a leader in Congress at a time when we are in desperate need of bold leadership”, the Vermonter said of the 19th Congressional District candidate, his still-thick Brooklyn accent dropping the hard “r” sound in her name (“Zephuh”) throughout his roughly 12 and a half-minute remarks. “I grew up with chickens and sheep and dairy farmers on both sides”, Teachout said.
And both politicians galvanized liberals with longshot political challenges. After the rally, Faso spoke with reporters outside a firehouse in New Paltz.
They both agree as well that the tax burden on property owners and small businesses is too high in NY, and that heroin is a scourge in the 19th District that must be eradicated.
The district includes Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Otsego, Schoharie, Sullivan, and Ulster counties, and parts of Broome, Dutchess, Montgomery, and Rensselaer counties.
