According to online sales data from Slice Intelligence, in the first 48 hours, 55% of shoppers ordered the larger model, marking the first time the Plus version has proved more popular than the standard iPhone.
Both phones have faster processors, better cameras and longer battery life than their predecessors.
Perhaps most controversially, this generation of iPhones is the first to not have a headphone jack.
Apple outlets throughout the world have been swamped by eager customers – with some saying they have queued since yesterday to get their hands on Apple’s newest smartphone. It’s perhaps sign of the digital age; the new jet black device and the 7 Plus have mostly sold out in advance online.

Reviews have been mixed for the device that was announced on September 7 and is the youngest in a nine-year lineage of popular smartphones released by Apple.
