Firmino: I want to become the ‘Neymar of Liverpool’

Liverpool’s 2-1 win victory over Chelsea on Friday night added to their excellent form against England’s top-five clubs since Jurgen Klopp arrived at the club nearly a year ago.

With a manager he counts among his friends and potential oozing from his play as of late, Liverpool fans can look forward to seeing what else their very own Brazilian talisman can produce for the club. “I could not have been happier”.

“The season is not over, we have to play football – we know we can play football and we are convinced about our quality”.

Clubs that don’t hand over the insane sums in transfer fees and wages could find themselves battling it out for fourth every year if United, City and Chelsea keep spending as they have done of late.

“I couldn’t see that he could sprint anymore, so that’s why we had to change”.

We were told when Klopp arrived that he had a skill for turning average players into great talents and that’s what good managers should do.

Klopp’s side put four past Arsenal and champions Leicester City so far this season and the Reds boss attributes the success in front of goal down to the collective work rate from the whole team. “I’ve been quite hyperactive since I was a child”, the Liverpool star explained. I’m relaxed about being away from Brazil. I had four-and-a-half years there and I learned you have to be on the automatic button. I like to relax, of course I do!

Now, what wasn’t all that surprising at all was that Sturridge – despite working hard in the first half – was subbed off ten minutes after the break with the England man looking leggy. Don’t stop. Never stop. I played as a full-back and then I moved into the centre. “There’s always a person who says you can not do this or it is too intense”.

The first half was not that intense, I have no idea how much we ran, but we had the ball for most of it.

“It’s not possible to play football without running, but the most intense type of running is when you make a mistake and have to run back the other way, like we did for their goal”.

“I learnt a little bit about the English (media)”.
