Louisville will pay tribute to Muhammad Ali during Florida State game
As he got on in years, Ali could be seen catching Cardinals football or basketball games.

Of course, the decal pays homage to Ali’s famous “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee” saying. A win against Florida State, who also holds a 2-0 record, would catapult Louisville in the rankings. With Florida State in town being led by a freshman quarterback and down its best secondary defender, Lamar Jackson and Louisville seem poised to pull off what would be the biggest win since Bobby Petrino returned to the Cardinals.
Here is a look at Louisville’s helmets for this week’s game.
With Ali’s widow Lonnie and son Asaad expected to be in attendance, the school will have a 30-foot painting of a butterfly, a nod to Ali’s signature quotation, and will feature words from “The Greatest” in the northwest corner of the end zone.
“They are treasured in our community and we wanted to properly thank them for everything they’ve meant to the city and the university”.
Ali, a Louisville native and U of L fan, died on June 3.
Lonnie Ali will be honored on the field during the first quarter for her charitable works and video tributes of Ali will play in the stadium throughout the game.
Louisville Athletics will be donating all of its community service hours performed by its student-athletes for the upcoming athletic season.
