IPhone 7 launch: Liverpool Apple Store opens early

Shipping dates for orders of Apple’s new iPhones vary, with shipments of the black 128GB iPhone 7 going out as early as September 19 but shipments of the Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models not shipping until November 1. It wasn’t until early morning they found out they couldn’t get the new jet black color – a sleek, shiny upgrade from “space gray” – or even any iPhone 7 Plus, which boasts twin cameras with “telephoto” or wide-angle lens and a 10x optical zoom.

Outside an Apple Store in Hong Kong, sports coach Kala Singh said he’d reserved his matte black iPhone 7 a week ago.

The company also announced that 4-inch Apple iPhone SE smartphone also got a price discount. Fans in Sydney weathered drizzle to line up outside the Apple Store, becoming some of the world’s first owners of the new models. Apple is selling its AirPods to go along with the IPhone 7, which are basically wireless versions of their past headphones.

Those who really want the shiny jet-black finish can still order the phone they want – though it will require patience. Data from Slice Intelligence, however, seems to suggest that after a 65 percent/35 percent split during the iPhone 6 launch, the gap narrowed after Apple released the iPhone 6s/6s Plus past year (59/41, respectively).

20-year-old Jess Punton, from Rainford is among customers left disappointed this morning when she was unable to get her hands on the new handset.

In a statement, the tech company explains the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in jet black have sold out during the online pre-order period; however, there is still hope for those who may want that color. No worries, the iPhone 7 is cheaper than the iPhone 7 Plus and most people probably already pre-ordered the larger version. Limiting the number of iPhones provided to carriers for pre-orders and in store sales helps when those carriers report they’ve sold out and gone to back order.

Apple touts water resistance, beefed-up cameras, and the iOS 10 operating system as some reasons why “there’s nothing else like an iPhone”. This happens virtually every time a new iPhone launches, and it is either bad management or a PR trick Apple uses with regularity. Photos from Apple’s event in San FranciscoThe iPhone 7 will cost $649 and it’ll be $769 for the iPhone 7 Plus, or about $30 per month if you finance it. That’s especially intriguing considering that Apple’s biggest rival just had to recall the iPhone 7 Plus’s only real competition.
