Leicester City outclassed and outplayed by Liverpool at new-look Anfield
Mane played a starring role in Liverpool’s 4-1 demolition of reigning Premier League champions Leicester City on Saturday evening, claiming a goal and an assist.

After 13 minutes the hosts scored the first goal in front of their new stand, with stand-in left-back James Milner making a superb, in-field pass to Firmino.
Goals from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane put Liverpool 2-0 ahead only for awful play by emergency centre-half Lucas to gift Jamie Vardy a goal for the visitors.
However, Adam Lallana’s third goal for club and country in six matches, having taken until January to reach that mark last season, and a late second for Firmino ensured the celebratory atmosphere did not fall flat.
The Reds finally returned to Anfield after the new £115million Main Stand was opened for the first time and to mark the occasion they put on a show of breathtaking football at times. “When we have lost in the past, we have always had a good reaction”. “When we are good, we are really good but when we had some problems, it is not easy”. The way they played against Leicester on Saturday, they would’ve beat anyone who lined up opposite.
“We were strong physically, flexible, quick, creative”.
Roberto Firmino scored twice in Liverpool’s dominant win over Leicester City at Anfield.
“Liverpool played better than us and they deserved to win”.
“We have a Champions League game to look forward to, we will wipe the slate clean and work on that”.
“We’ve had two weeks now and I hear a little bit of doubt in your questions”, said Klopp.
Drinkwater said: “We can’t take it away from them as they were clearly the better team”. I didn’t speak about the goal we conceded, I spoke about the reaction we showed after the goal – that made no sense.
“(Against) Arsenal (in the 0-0 draw) we should have had a penalty, they should have had a man sent off.

Mane is now one of the first names on the team sheet and offers some frightening pace to a Liverpool unit that was sorely lacking it last season.
