Without question, it was a disaster performance for a somewhat new coaching staff, even against a team with the cache of Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide.

Yes, Steve Sarkisian will be a member of Alabama’s coaching staff.

Sarkisian later sought treatment for alcoholism and has since sued USC for firing him over what the suit claims is a medical condition. The Tide outgained the Trojans 465-194 on the night.

Florida extended the nation’s longest winning streak in season openers to 27 by defeating University of MA 24-7, with Luke Del Rio throwing two touchdown passes in his first career start.

The first person to report on this development was Clay Travis of Fox Sports, who said the former USC head coach would be a special offensive assistant.

Saban said that he and Sarkisian had discussed the role “quite a while ago”. He then took over as Lane Kiffin’s replacement at USC in 2014, leading the Trojans to a 9-4 record and a win over Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl. “We don’t want to get any dumb penalties or anything like that from doing the talking”. “So my focus with our team right now is what can we do better?”

Alabama is 2-0 all time against the Hilltoppers, winning 41-7 in 2008 and 35-0 in 2012. That’s exactly what he did, starting wtih a 39-yard TD pass to Stewart midway through the second quarter, which sparked the blowout.

After the game, Saban said he might switch things up for Saturday’s home opener against Western Kentucky.

Alabama returns to action this weekend against Western Kentucky.

Alabama hasn’t lost in its Bryant-Denny opener since falling to Oklahoma in 2003.

Senior defensive end Jonathan Allen collected two sacks against the Trojans and has eight in his past seven games dating to last season.

Ben Boulware’s subsequent goal line interception only provided a temporary reprieve for a team that made the national championship game last season. “We’re glad to have him”. Shank (Taylor) coming back at right guard, where he played before, he’s a powerful guy.
