Buffalo finds its scapegoat, fires offensive (?) coordinator Greg Roman
The Bills have struggled to an 0-2 record out of the gate.

And because firing one person at the top of a coaching tree is a lot easier than firing two, the Bills took the path of least resistance here and got rid of Roman, who also happens to be the highest-paid coordinator in the NFL.
With Roman now out, Ryan has promoted running backs coach, and assistant head coach, Anthony Lynn to be the eleventh offensive coordinator since the Bills’ 16-year playoff drought began in 2000. However, the biggest embarrassment was the season-opening 13-7 loss at Baltimore when it generated its fewest yards (160) since 2006 and only one touchdown. Against the Jets, the Bills had 307 yards offense, with more than half that coming on two plays: Taylor’s 84-yard touchdown pass to Marquise Goodwin and a 74-yard TD pass to Greg Salas.
The veteran running back showed Thursday night why the Jets signed him to a three-year, $12 million deal in March. Ryan didn’t inherit the type of team he likes on offense or defense previous year to begin with.
“I appreciate Greg Roman and the job he did for us”. But both LG James Carpenter and ILB Erin Henderson didn’t finish the game and are scheduled to get MRIs. “They made plays, they were throwing jump balls and then went out and caught them”. I was afraid to pressure because we weren’t holding up in man coverage, which we played the whole game in. Instead, Taylor has looked hesitant in the pocket and has had difficulty finding receivers over the middle.
“I appreciate Greg Roman”, Ryan said at his press conference on Friday afternoon. Marshall went to the locker room to be evaluated, but returned to the game on the next series.
Guard Richie Incognito said he felt “terrible” for Roman, but believes the offense will rally under Lynn.
“He has some unique abilities and we need to focus on those strengths, and also try to develop what we perceive as a weakness; give him an opportunity to get better, and I think he will”. The Bills’ passing game has been panned by some National Football League observers as the simplest in the National Football League, and the standing theory is that Roman was hamstrung by Taylor’s limited abilities. Roman was a logical choice to develop that style, given the success of the running game he produced as the San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator under Jim Harbaugh. Unfortunately for Rex, there wasn’t a third Ryan twin to hire on the coaching staff along with brother Rob.

“I think Tyrod is an outstanding player, I believe in his ability as a drop-back quarterback, and as a quarterback that is athletic that we can do things with”, said Ryan. In March, defensive line coach Karl Dunbar was sacked and replaced by John Blake.
