Bailey Finley says she thought Grate lived at the Ashland house where two bodies were found, just steps away from a coin laundry where she and her 2-year-old son go to wash their clothes.
A decision on additional charges in the case of an OH man arrested at a house where two bodies were found will come on Thursday.
The Ashland County Coroner has positively identified one of the bodies that was recovered as Stacey Stanley who was reported missing from Huron County Ohio last Thursday.
An Ashland, Ohio man arrested after a woman’s report she was being held captive is now charged with two counts of murder.
Grate is being held in the Ashland County on a charge of abduction and could face additional charges.
She was last seen at an Ashland gas station when she got a flat tire.
Records show an OH man arrested after the report of an abduction led to the discovery of three bodies has a long criminal record and served prison time for burglary.
Investigators discovered two bodies in the abandoned home.
When asked whether she could get out of the house, she said, “I don’t know without waking him and I’m scared”.
In the call below, she tells the 911 operator she was abducted and tied up by a man named Shawn Grate.
The unidentified woman was killed between August 16 and September 13, according to court documents. They also found the remains of two other people. One victim was identified as 43-year-old Stacey Stanley. In a shaky whisper, she pleaded with the police dispatcher for help. Investigators checked Tuesday and found a body down a ravine in woods behind that house, which was destroyed by fire.
The woman repeatedly says she is afraid to make noise, to open a squeaky door or to try and leave.

After police responded Tuesday and took Grate into custody, he told officers he was involved in another woman’s murder in another part of the county near Ashland, prosecuting attorney for Richland County Bambi Couch Page said. The remains weren’t immediately identified.
