Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci is eagerly anticipating Sunday’s Serie A match versus Inter and is confident they will get a good result.

City missed out on both Bonucci and Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte this summer, but John Stones has been excellent since signing, Nicolás Otamendi looks a much improved player, and Aleksandar Kolarov has been the surprise package of the Pep Guardiola era so far.

The Italy global was heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium ahead of the 2016-17 campaign, with the Premier League side making a €50 million offer for him.

“I did give it some thought. Guardiola’s insistence destabilised me a little”, Bonucci was quoted as saying by beIN Sports. “There was just an exchange of ideas with my agent”. It was tempting, but I chose to follow my heart in the end. Why does Manchester City’s stadium smell like garlic?

“I stayed here to aim for big objectives”.

“I’d like to become the new Morata”, the Croatian youngster told assembled media in today’s press conference, “I’ll do my best to show the club, my team-mates, the coach and the fans that I can play well and live up to expectations”.

And Bonucci revealed he was tempted by the transfer before his boyhood love of Juventus persuaded him to remain with the Serie A giants.
