After an impressive shutout victory on Monday Night Football, the 49ers will be traveling to the East Coast on a short week.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Carolina Panthers are excited about the return of Kelvin Benjamin. Citing his OR experience in big games, Buckner said he wasn’t overwhelmed by the prime-time lights.
A year ago, the Panthers went to the last week of December before losing, so coming off a loss in the opener might seem unusual.
As the defending NFC Champions, the Panthers cannot go 0-2 to start the season, especially when the 49ers are coming to Carolina.

And with Sunday’s matchup with the Panthers scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Part of that came with struggles in pass coverage. Typically a strong suit for the Carolina defense, the Broncos used C.J. Anderson to perfection both in the run and passing games.
“That might be the best tandem that we face”, he said. He made some plays in the pass game. The 49ers gained 144 yards between the tackles, while the Panthers gave up 5.7 yards per attempt up the middle of the field. It was a slow painful death as San Francisco’s Hyde scored again, a one-yard plunge with five and change remaining on the game clock. Benjamin reeled in six catches for 91 yards and one touchdown.
“There were some really good things in the game, great, tremendous efforts, tremendous plays, in all three phases”. The Panthers did not expect for him to get the ball. He has more TDs rushing than any QB in National Football League history. Even T Michael Oher played well, defending Newton from LB DeMarcus Ware. The second half was phenomenal. He kept plays alive.
After calling this game “another test” after Monday’s “confidence booster”, Brooks offered up quite a vision how the Panthers might fear the 49ers defense. When you look at their combined stats though, it adds up. Having a healthy Stewart in the backfield means everything for this offense, as his shiftiness is simply irreplaceable. Laugh all you want at how inept the Rams look, holding Todd Gurley to 47 total rushing yards is no small feat. But the Rams defense is not the same as the Panthers and neither is their offense. They won’t have the ability to do that this weekend, as the Panthers have numerous weapons on offense to contend with.
