Police lock down a Denver hospital complex amid gun report

Police have lifted orders for people to shelter in place at buildings surrounding a Denver hospital complex that was put on lockdown after reports of shots being fired.

DENVER (AP) Police locked down a Denver hospital complex Friday amid reports that gunshots were fired and a man was seen carrying a rifle on the grounds.

Police said they were looking for Caucasian man in his 30’s, weighing about 130 pounds.

Police patrolled the rooftop of a building on Rose Medical Center Friday afternoon after officers received reports of shots heard at the hospital.

Rose Medical Center Spokesperson Julie Hogan does not believe anyone was shot or hurt.

Denver police Technician Tyrone Campbell refused to say whether police had determined shots had been fired, saying the investigation was continuing. No arrests or injuries were reported.

Copter4 flew over Rose Medical Center, where there were several police vehicles parked outside, reports CBS Denver.

Officers are continuing their search of the area, and they are searching the hospital room-by-room.

The scene outside was calm by Friday evening.

Additionally, it reports that the Veterans Administration hospital adjacent to Rose Medical Center in Denver is also on lockdown due to the suspected active shooter situation playing out across the street.
