Trump initially started talking about Flint, but when he sidetracked and started attacking his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, Rev. Faith Green Timmons interrupted him and asked him to change topics.

Trump had traveled to the suffering MI city of Flint in part to learn about how it has dealt with a major public health crisis prompted by the lead contamination of its drinking water.

Trump then vowed that, if elected, he would “quickly” help the people in Flint, who have suffered a water contamination crisis.

Speaking at an awards ceremony in D.C. Thursday night, Clinton criticized Trump for the way he treated Timmons.

Trump spoke to the plant’s supervisor and later talked about her enthusiasm for the job. “It doesn’t bother me”, Mr Trump told Fox & Friends, adding that she was visibly shaking.

On Wednesday, the Republican hopeful was invited to speak at a church in Flint, Michigan, to discuss the city’s water crisis. Instead, he complained about Hillary Clinton until the pastor asked him to cut it out.

“Sixty days before the election, he’s obviously just trying to get a little publicity stunt, so he can get an extra couple of followers, an extra couple of people to vote for him”, she said.

The real estate mogul’s visit to Flint is the most attention Trump has devoted to the city whose water crisis rose to national prominence earlier this year.

Clinton responded to Trump’s characterization during a news conference Thursday afternoon, taking issue with Trump calling her “nervous”.

The Republican candidate said that the Rev. Faith Green Timmons interrupted him because she had a political agenda.

He stated that the audience at the church was on his side and chanted “let him speak”. While her original comment has since been taken down, she wrote another post saying she wouldn’t have interrupted if Trump had stuck to the plan worked out with church leaders before his appearance. “I’ll tell you what made me fell good-the audience was saying, ‘Let him speak, let him speak'”.

In fact, several audience members began to heckle Trump, asking pointed questions about whether he racially discriminated against black tenants as a landlord.

The reverend said in a statement distributed to reporters that the visit “in no way” represented an endorsement of Trump’s candidacy.
