Beef With Rief’ Saints in must-win mode against Giants
Carmichael handled play calling for the final nine regular season games, when the Saints went 8-1 and scored 40-plus points five times, topping out at 62 once. In the Oakland Raiders’ win, quarterback Derek Carr was able to have a great game through the air against the Saints’ defense.

Meeting past year on All Saints’ Day in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Eli Manning and Drew Brees combined to throw an NFL-record 13 touchdowns (six by Manning, seven by Brees). Beckham had a field day previous year in the Superdome with eight receptions, 130 yards and three touchdowns. Brees was able to pass for 505 yards and 7 touchdowns a year ago due to the lack of a pass rush and the weak secondary.
This offseason, the Saints revamped and re-worked their secondary, including a group of cornerbacks that makes the unit among the youngest in the league.
P.J. Williams will start on the outside, and De’Vante Harris will be in the slot.
Casillas was a teammate of Brees’ in New Orleans, so he knows what to expect. Now he has another challenge ahead of him with the Saints’ Brandin Cooks, who had six receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1. QB Eli Manning had six touchdowns passes against Saints past year.
The defense played well against the Cowboys and a rookie starting quarterback. Although they walked away with the win there are still plenty of things that this team can look to improve upon going into week 2.
The Giants looked good against the run on Sunday. “We made some mistakes and I think every game you’re looking for improvement”.
Coming out of Clemson, Spiller was one of the most dynamic running backs in the entire nation.
With Payton suspended in connection with NFL’s bounty investigation in 2012, Carmichael again called offensive plays, and the Saints put up 6,574 yards, an average of 410.9 yards per game, which ranked second behind only New England (427.9 yards per game) that season. In Willie Snead and Brandin Cooks, Drew Brees has arguably the best receiver tandem he’s had in years, and they have a solid running back in Mark Ingram and a potentially risky tight end in Coby Fleener. The Giants offense must carry over their efficiency inside the 20 yard line. So them getting used to it and one of the reasons we are outside today, it’s a little bit warmer but none the less we had some rain when we came out here and the balls were wet. Ingram is the son of former Giants wide receiver and Super Bowl XXV champion Mark Ingram Sr.
BACK TO NORMAL: Giants receiver Victor Cruz returned in style from a series of injuries, scoring the winning touchdown in his first game since October 2014. On Sunday, the New Jersey native comes home to MetLife Stadium. “We need to get him moving where he can’t get the full range of the field and get him uncertain to where he’s throwing balls up that we can go get”.

It hasn’t taken long for the Raiders to get a pretty good feel for how teams plan to counter the tandem of Khalil Mack and Bruce Irvin. The Giants are 49-39-3 in home openers.
