Air strikes hit several towns in the central province of Homs and also targeted opposition groups, including fighters from the Fateh al-Sham Front, in the coastal province of Latakia, according to the British-based monitor.
Syria’s army controls Deir al-Zor airport and parts of the city which are otherwise entirely surrounded by territory held by Islamic State.
Russia’s military announced on Thursday evening that the Syrian military was beginning to withdraw from a contested route to Aleppo, suggesting a breakthrough to the deadlock could be coming. Russian Federation intervened with its air force on the side of President Bashar Assad’s government past year, turning the tide of the war in his favor.
If the truce, which began on Monday, lasts seven days and humanitarian access is granted, Russian Federation and the USA are to work together to target jihadists including the extremist Islamic State group and former Al Qaeda affiliate Jabhat Fateh al-Sham.
The report comes during a fragile ceasefire.
It called the strike a “serious and blatant attack on Syria and its military”, and “firm proof of the US support of Daesh and other terrorist groups”, using the Arabic acronym for Islamic State.
Though the deal went into effect Monday, U.S. officials have been loath to say what day of the required seven they consider the ceasefire to be on and thus when the Joint Implementation Center might be set up.
Russia said it wants an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss air strikes, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
As part of the U.S. Syrian state TV said bulldozers began clearing the road on the northwestern edge of Aleppo that leads into besieged rebel-held neighborhoods to make way for the convoys.
Earlier on Saturday, a United Nations humanitarian group expressed frustration that it has so far been unable to deliver aid to Aleppo amid fears that the US-Russian truce is about to collapse.
The truce has been holding despite some violations, with the Syrian opposition on Thursday reporting 46 cease-fire violations around the country.
But a U.S. state department spokesman said he did not have “intelligence or facts” to confirm a withdrawal.
The United States accused Syria of blocking aid to besieged cities and warned it will not boost military cooperation with Russian Federation unless Damascus honours the truce agreement.
