Be warned though, Google usually puts these warnings in place when it discovers malicious programs – malware – hiding out inside a website.

A number of websites are caught under fire for reportedly circulating rumors of The Pirate Bay shutting down. “If you understand the risks to your security, you may visit this site before the harmful programs have been removed”.

A big red warning message will greet anyone trying to download from the page, telling them: “The site ahead contains harmful programs”.

Firefox visitors were told “This web page at thepiratebay.org has been reported to contain unwanted software and has been blocked based on your security preferences”. It also cautions that unwanted software pages try to install software which can be deceptive and affect their system in unexpected ways.

The bad news is that it is not only Google Chrome which displays the warning, with Firefox also starting to display a similar warning.

Users can rest easy now that there’s simply no way the The Pirate Bay will be down anytime soon and if it does, it wouldn’t go down without notice from the site itself.

Despite these new measures, users on Chrome can easily bypass the warning by clicking on “Details”, and then “Visit this site”. The site had been running since 2007 and had millions of visitors every month, although it wasn’t almost as popular as The Pirate Bay.

Despite the arrest of the alleged owner of the KickAss Torrents, users has still a wide choice of torrent sources all over the web.

Google’s Chrome and Mozilla’s Firefox browsers have started to block direct access to The Pirate Bay’s download pages, displaying warnings to users rather than a page of torrents.

As for other torrent streaming sites, it was reported that KickassTorrents alternative Torrentz hasn’t been blocked by Chrome, despite multiple pop-ups on the site which urge users to download the latest version of Flash.
