The Eagles acquire conditional 2018 draft pick in exchange for Eric Rowe

Apparently, at best, Rowe was figured to lure someone into a trade, and, at worst, he was going to be cut from the roster anyway without the Eagles getting anything for him.

Eric Rowe, the former Eagles second-round pick out of Utah, was officially traded to the New England Patriots today.

Schefter, though, reported the Eagles are looking to deal Kline shortly after finalizing the trade with New England.

It is clear the team wanted to part ways with Kline as he was released on Wednesday morning.

Kline underwent offseason shoulder surgery, and he appeared to re-injure his shoulder during the Patriots’ second preseason game.

Rowe played cornerback for the Eagles but he can also play safety.

Every active New England Patriots player was present and accounted for Wednesday as the team hit the field for a full-pad practice outside Gillette Stadium. It’s a odd move because it’s not very often you give up on a second-round pick this quickly. The Eagles, who were being run by Chip Kelly at the time, traded up five spots to select him. He was involved in 25 tackles, 18 solo, and had one interception.

Rowe, 23, is in his second National Football League season after being drafted by Philadelphia in the second round (47th overall) of the 2015 draft out of Utah.

It is very possible- and I might even say probable- that Rowe hits the mark in 2017.

On sports radio WEEI earlier this week, coach Bill Belichick said of Rowe, “He played safety his junior year, then corner his senior year”. Over the weekend, they traded quarterback Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings. Kline went undrafted out of Kent State in 2013, but he earned a two-year contract midway through his successful 2015 campaign.
