Devp a priority for NAM group: Ansari
The Venezuelan team left India amid perceptions among many Latin American diplomats that USA pressure on Venezuela President Nicholas Maduro to quit office was a possible factor on Modi’s mind.

While talking to media on board to Venezuela to attend the NAM Summit at Margarita Island, the Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari said both social and worldwide peace are interrupted by terror and if population is terrorised then it can not devote itself to its normal pursuits.
Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe, Iran’s Hassan Rouhani and Palestine’s Mahmoud Abbas, as well as regional allies from Cuba, Ecuador and Bolivia are among the few heads of states who have landed on the Caribbean island.
The Cuban delegation also includes the foreign minister, Bruno Rodríguez and the island’s ambassador to Venezuela, Rogelio Rolanco (former director of Juventud Rebelde newspaper).
One notable absentee was Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Also planned for Saturday are two sessions addressed by the heads of state and government.
Asked what was India’s stand on the economic and political turmoil in NAM’s host country of Venezuela, Ansari said India does not have a point of view on what is happening in Venezuela or any other country within their domestic realm.
According to state media, the summit ends September 18. We will not stop fighting and we will not allow them to make a mockery of the constitution.
Vice President Hamid Ansari arrived here on Saturday to attend the 17th NAM Summit during which India is expected to raise its concerns over terrorism besides deliberating on key issues like United Nations reform, climate change and nuclear disarmament. A number of people were arrested there earlier this month after President Maduro was greeted by pot-banging demonstrators during a visit to the Margarita Island. Instead, statements have been imprecise, assuring that the call was a success with no specific statistics.

The government has not said how many leaders will be at the summit, the movement’s 17th. Despite being little known in the west, NAM is the world’s second largest global body after the United Nations.
