Donaldson, Martin lead Blue Jays past Angels, 7-2
The Los Angeles Angels have an ERA of 4.47 and have lost six straight games when allowing more than three runs.

Josh Donaldson went 3 for 3 with two doubles and scored two runs as the Blue Jays beat the Angels 7-2. Seattle, Detroit and Houston are all three games behind in the wild-card chase. “In the long run, this is the right thing to do”. He earlier had a 13-game streak. It was Nolasco’s first win against Toronto and he has now recorded wins over every major league team but two – the Marlins and Indians.
Angels manager Mike Scioscia is hoping Nolasco and his club can put some heat on the Blue Jays and snap a five-game skid. “Got some early outs that definitely helped keep the momentum on our side there”. “I think he used all of his pitches well”.
This time around, Nolasco had to escape plenty of his own jams, because he allowed Toronto leadoff hitters to get on base in five of his six innings.
“It’s a very tough lineup to face and I didn’t want to face them with guys on base right from the get-go, but that’s how it was”, Nolasco said. He’s a pitcher who threw a little harder maybe four years ago. Dickey won his only outing against the Angels this season, allowing two earned runs on six hits in 6 2/3 innings on August 23. Liriano himself committed one of the two Toronto errors, though if Troy Tulowitzki had his choice, he probably would have taken it as his own.
“I was just trying to get us back to the dugout as usual”, Happ said. Offensively, Mike Trout leads Los Angeles with 159 hits, Albert Pujols has 110 RBI and Kole Calhoun has 17 home runs. The Blue Jays stranded 12 and were 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position. After playing coy with the results of an MRI on his hip, Donaldson appeared to be back to form, reaching base five times and sparking rallies in the fourth and sixth innings.

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion (10) watches the ball leave the park on a twp-run home run in the ninth inning of the game against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. With catcher Carlos Perez at the plate, Liriano spiked a wild pitch. Toronto is just 5-9 this month but has won the first two games of the series by a cumulative 12-2 score. Stroman hasn’t faced Los Angeles since 2014 but struggled in two appearances (one start), and is 0-0 with a 14.30 ERA.
