Along with the incredibly low 4G data tariffs, Reliance Jio will offer customers free voice calls and no roaming charges.
India officially has a new 4G LTE network that is offering up free voice calling forever thanks to India’s biggest industrial house.
“We Indians have come to appreciate and applaud Gandhi-giri, now we can all do “data-giri”, which is an opportunity to do unlimited good things with unlimited data”, Mr Ambani said.
Aditya-Birla telecom arm, Idea lost almost Rs 3000 crore in market capitalisation yesterday in less than hour since Ambani began outlining charges and others features for Reliance Jio customers.
With that aim in mind, Reliance Jio will also start rolling out fibre-to-home wireline network in select cities, and is also looking at extending its optical fibre network to enterprise locations.
Jio will be offering discounted call rates to nearly 61 selected countries with some free minutes in selected plans. Roaming charges will also be zero across India. All the apps will be free till the end of 2017. “They will be less anxious about data consumption and charges and will be more inclined to consume the content they enjoy”, he said. As an added launch bonus, anyone who signs up this year in India will receive all those services for free until December 31.
The company is setting the target of acquiring 100 million customers in the “quickest time possible”. Reliance Jio tariff plans are from Rs. 19/- for starters to Rs. 4999/- for heavy data users.
The data plans offered by the Reliance Jio network are again a force that rival telecom companies will have to recon with.

There are still debates on how it will result in a profitable and sustainable revenue model to justify the Bn investment in the venture.
