While Cleveland looked bad on Sunday, the biggest highlight of the game was Carson Wentz.

Quarterback Carson Wentz, who would’ve been available to the Browns had the Eagles not sent a plethora of picks for the opportunity to draft him, dazzled his way to a two touchdown and 29-10 winning debut. It is exciting to be mentioned that way. Obviously the work their coaching staff has done with him, through the OTAs and training camp was time very well spent. He said it’s easy to “just try to block out the noise and focus on football”, but someone may let Wentz know what a very accomplished coach had to say about the No. 2 pick.
“I’ll tell you that he and I have had conversations the last couple of days”, Pederson said.
“It’s good tape to watch for me, to be able to say, ‘I did well on this play”.
To see Wentz jersey outsell those of Antonio Brown, Tom Brady, and others is a thing of beauty as earlier this offseason Wentz was listed as the 3rd string QB on the Eagles depth chart. His second game against the Bears – a road game on Monday Night Football – figures to be a step up in degree-of-difficulty. But one thing that has him excited is the chemistry between him and rookie quarterback Carson Wentz. Sunday he threw for 278 yards, two touchdowns and had no interceptions – the best debut for a rookie quarterback in Philly in more than 30 years.
“There were some ups and downs, but I think the best part for me was just the learning process”, Kessler said of the preseason. “I do think it will be interesting to view how they [the Eagles] view Jay Cutler differently than RGIII” Thayer finished. But Pederson did admit that he’s anxious to see how Wentz handles playing against the Bears.
