The Mets then will decide whether he goes to the Arizona Fall League, a winter league or gets personal tutoring to prepare for spring training.

NY announced the signing of former Florida Gators and NFL Quarterback Tim Tebow to a minor league deal, which means if he makes it to the majors, there is a good chance he plays a game at Marlins Park.
Tebow’s 12-year absence from the game and lack of obvious major league talent drew detractors since he announced an open tryout for major league clubs, and will surely amplify as he makes his way through the Mets’ minor league system, a process that begins when he reports to instructional league in Port St. Lucie, Fla. on September 18.
On a positive note, according to the New York Daily News, Tebow demonstrated excellent power. The team will send Tebow to the Mets Instructional League in Port St. Lucie, Florida, NBC New York reported.
Tebow hasn’t played baseball regularly since his junior year at Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, Florida.
The explanations are boring, but Tebow would have been a worthwhile addition to any major league organization, even if he never makes it to the game’s top level.
The Mets were among a handful of clubs expressing interest in Tebow, including the Colorado Rockies and Atlanta Braves, who confirmed to USA TODAY Sports they viewed him as a legitimate prospect.
The 29-year-old has called recruiters Major League Baseball teams to display in a public workout.
The 29-year-old, who led the University of Florida to two national titles and won the 2007 Heisman Trophy, has not played competitive baseball since high school. However, Tebow did not perform well against live pitching, displaying a rather frightening continuation of swings and misses, especially at breaking balls.
Tebow, the first sophomore to ever win the Heisman Trophy, might rank among the best college football players, ever.
“Thankfully, I don’t really have to say anything to them”, says Tebow. “With great coaches, I feel like I’m just going to improve”.
“I think that any player evaluation starts with tools”, he said.

Tebow is designated as an outfielder, and will probably try to make his way to Double AA baseball at some point during 2017.
