Two charged over video game gambling site
“Two men have been charged with offences under the Gambling Act in what is believed to be the first prosecution involving betting on video games”. Both men accused appeared in Birmingham Magistrates’ Court earlier today, however the case has been adjourned to October 14. In August, the UKGC announced that betting licenses were required for any website that provides “a service created to facilitate the making or accepting of bets between others'”. All charges related to the use of virtual currency, rather than real money. How do you guys feel about this whole skin betting debacle?

Gambling has been a big subject in the videogame world recently after it was discovered that a few large YouTubers were leveraging their influence to promote betting sites to a young, impressionable audience.
Douglas didn’t seem anxious about the law back in June 2015, when he replied to a tweet warning him of the dangers of not indicating the site was for people over 18, saying, “Let us worry about that kind of stuff, yeah”.
Douglas remains active on his Twitter account but has remained tight-lipped regarding his current legal difficulties except to say he “can’t talk about it at this moment in time”.
