Pep Guardiola hails ‘outstanding’ Kevin De Bruyne

Manchester City continued their ideal start under Pep Guardiola as a ruthless 4-0 victory over Bournemouth gave them an eighth successive win and a piece of club history.

“Kevin is outstanding player”, he said. Without the ball, he is a fighter; and with the ball, it is clear what he can do. That’s why he is a player at another level.

“I’m so happy. We’ve won a lot of games and people say very nice words”.

Goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Kelechi Iheanacho, Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Guendogan, on his Premier League debut, wrapped up the points after another scintillating display from the title favourites who continue to lay down a marker to their rivals.

‘Of course, he is one of the best, there is no doubt about that. “In the last two or three years if you’d taken those three out of the side you always thought you’d have a chance against City”.

“I have seen what happens when the trainer didn’t win, they have been so critical and they didn’t deserve that”.

‘I try to tell the players who can dribble: “Do it”.

“When we talk about (Lionel) Messi, maybe he can sit alone in the table, with no one else allowed”, said Guardiola, a former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach. “But that table aside, Kevin can stay there”, said Guardiola, who enjoyed many memorable moments with Messi at Barcelona. They’re the first top-flight club to win their first eight games of the season in all competitions since Chelsea in 2005.

Manchester City have maintained their flawless start to the Premier League after thrashing Bournemouth 4-0 earlier this morning.

“Numbers are numbers and records will be beaten”.

Pep Guardiola was delighted Man City were able to beat Bournemouth, a side he thinks are the best his team have faced so far this season.

Aguero will be back for City’s next league game but Nolito faces three matches out after his 86th-minute red card for motioning a head-butt at Adam Smith as they squared up and went forehead to forehead.

Eddie Howe will be disappointed as Bournemouth arrived in Manchester high on confidence after beating West Brom away in their last game. “He understands the game, is physical, strong and helps us out defensively”.

Howe said, “Fair play to them”.

But although things don’t appear to be quite as hostile between the pair as they were back when they were on opposite sides of the El Clasico divide in Spain, the press aren’t having it that the pair’s relationship is at the stage where they can nip out for a few Sunday night pints together. “We are disappointed with our overall performance”. I feel that without David Silva in the line-up, De Bruyne has stepped up his game big time and especially in big matches.

De Bruyne scored first goal and played important part in other three goals against Bournemouth
