The 24-year-old has also started this term in impressive form and he hopes to keep that going tonight. Everyone was very committed from the outset and we got a great result against a great team.
“I couldn’t see that he could sprint anymore, so that’s why we had to change”.
“When the players go home, I can’t tell them what to do so you need to create an atmosphere of trust”.
“We’re on the right track, we’ve started the season well”.
“Of course we’ve dropped points”, he acknowledged.
It has taken time to get used to the scrutiny of England’s top flight – in recent months his relationship with injury-thwarted striker Daniel Sturridge has come under the spotlight – but Klopp insists his Reds squad has become a tight-knit group.
“Chelsea is a very good side and has a good manager in Antonio Conte, who enjoyed lots of success in Italy (with Juventus)”.
He added: “I think we are in a good way”.
Fowler believes Klopp – whom he describes as “the ideal manager” for Liverpool – will have his game plan all figured out against the Blues, but warned that trophies must start flowing. I don’t want to think, ‘What are they doing now?
“Last season Chelsea were quite direct, didn’t have much confidence”, Klopp said.
“He’s very likable and popular at Anfield but the pressure to win titles will come soon enough”.
Sturridge has scored 55 goals in 96 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside club, yet since the 2013-14 campaign he has managed just 12 Premier League goals amid struggles with injury.
“But it gets harder and harder all the time”.
It included his embarrassment at the nickname “God”, by which he is fondly known by Liverpool fans, particularly considering his opinion on the talent of someone like good friend and Liverpool’s all-time leading goalscorer Ian Rush.

Fowler was also asked about Singapore, a country he visits frequently, often as a Liverpool ambassador and also to play in charity or legend matches.
