President Barack Obama Shares What He Likes To Listen To On Spotify

Obama rounds out his playlist with “Superpower”, Beyonce’s sultry duet with Frank Ocean. Pianoman Ray Charles gets a nod with “You Don’t Know Me” as does saxophonist John Coltrane with his rendition of “My Favorite Things”.

If you’re looking to for some summer vibes, in a presidential way, check out the 40 tracks below.

The playlist, which is a compilation of songs hand-picked by Obama himself and titled “The President’s Summer Playlist: Night”, is an eclectic collection of modern hits and tried-and-true classics.

As US President Barack Obama lounged with his family on a Massachusetts beach Thursday, August 13, the White House released a list of 6 books that he took on vacation.

Obama even had members of his staff comb the hard copy (???) of the playlists ahead of time, presumably to prevent an embarrassing mistake like this one.

Other White House staffers will be creating playlists, too, it sounds like.

On the more conservative side, Obama might start learning about America’s first president.

Spotify is the latest online outlets the White House uses, which already includes Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr and Medium. It’s called The President’s Playlist, and Vol.

The more laid-back “Night” playlist includes songs from The Lumineers, Al Green, and Van Morrison.

In between tweets about reopening the embassy in Cuba and commending the Voting Rights Act, Obama announced his new gig as Spotify curator.

You’ll notice a range of artists in there, including Bob Marley, Coldplay, Bob Dylan, Florence and the Machine and Justin Timberlake all featuring on the Day track list.

While the Spotify selections can be considered the equivalent of a summertime mixed tape, the White House sees it as another way to branch out on social media.
