Police said Michael May was arrested after he was found digging up the grave of his father in Stanford, Kentucky, WLEX reported.

May, who had allegedly been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana Monday evening, was discovered digging up a plot at the Pilot Baptist Church in rural Lincoln County by a constable whose suspicions were piqued when he saw May’s auto. “He told me he was trying to dig his dad up, so his dad could go to heaven”.

May reportedly told authorities that he dad died around 30 years ago.

“[My father] needs to be on the ground”. The cemetery registry listed 13 different people with the same last name as Michael May, so it isn’t clear if the body he tried to dig up was his father or not.
