No-one was injured in the blast on Ocean Avenue in the town of Seaside Park, which happened shortly before 3,000 runners were due to take part in a charity race to benefit U.S. marines.

No injuries were reported in the blast in Seaside Park around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
At least 15 people were injured in an explosion in Chelsea Saturday night, and authorities are investigating if an incendiary device was planted in a garbage can on the sidewalk, a senior official familiar with the investigation says. Amusement rides and the beach in Seaside Heights remain open after the K-9 and police units swept the area.
The third annual Semper Five run, named for the US Marines motto “semper fidelis”, “always loyal”, was canceled and the immediate area was put on lockdown.
Authorities said the lag in the start of the race, reportedly because of late registrations, meant the bomb went off before runners were on the race course.
The race was later canceled.
“I would like to thank our county, our state, and federal agencies for their quick response to this unfortunate incident”, Larkin said. It wasn’t immediately clear if the charity race would be rescheduled. Some homes near the scene were evacuated as a precaution, and the public was being urged to avoid the area.
Carswell said he was mad that someone may have planted the device to harm people.
“Based on what we know at this hour there is no specific connection to the incident in New Jersey”.
The FBI has taken over the investigation of a pipe bomb blast that occurred in a New Jersey shore town shortly before thousands of runners were due to take part in a charity 5K race to benefit marines and sailors.
