Bournemouth are the best team Manchester City have played this season, Pep Guardiola said after his side ran out 4-0 winners on Saturday.

Manchester City continued their flawless start under Pep Guardiola as a ruthless 4-0 victory over Bournemouth gave them an eighth successive win and a piece of club history.

Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater said: “We knew we had to come back to the Premier League and had to carry on from where we left off in the Champions League”. Bournemouth are the best team we have played in our five matches, so I am very pleased.

Alexis Sanchez’s double and goals from Theo Walcott and Granit Xhaka made the difference for the Gunners, who recovered from their midweek draw with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

“They have a striker like [Josh] King, who is wonderful, strong and they win all their duels, their wingers are so fast and their full backs as well, especially [Adam] Smith”. I was actually disappointed with our performance because I thought we could do better.

Burnley, who were second best for long spells at the King Power Stadium, suffered a further setback when Ben Mee diverted into his own net late in the second half. “I don’t think it’s a big problem but it happened two days ago so I don’t think he will be able [to play]”.

“Without the ball he’s a fighter and with the ball he’s clear, he sees everything”.

“I don’t know him too much but from what I can see he is a guy who likes to be at home with his wife and kids”, he added. We had our moments, we had our chances, and didn’t make the a lot of them.

He had no truck with the suggestion that, having won their first eight games in all competitions, Manchester City risked becoming infected by complacency.

“So overall I think we responded well”. We played like a small team without the ball and that is why I’m so proud.

As a result they now sit top of the Premier League table and have begun their Champions League campaign with a 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach, leading some to tip them to land the quadruple this season. He initiated and finished up a superb move involving Nolito, De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling.

“They deserved it. I felt embarrassed at half-time”, said West Ham manager Slaven Bilic.

“It was hard for Jack”, Howe said.

The prolific Algerian striker, a 29.7 million pound ($38.61 million) buy from Sporting Lisbon, struck with the last action of the first half and early in the second, his two finishes demonstrating the heading prowess that had attracted manager Claudio Ranieri.
