Chelsea explosion in NYC injures multiple people
De Blasio told reporters early Sunday morning that there did not appear to be a link between the incidents in NY and New Jersey.

An explosion at West 23rd Street and Sixth Avenue Saturday night injured 29 people, one critically.
“Just before I got off the plane, a bomb went off in NY, and nobody knows exactly what’s going on, but boy, we are living in a time”, Trump said.
The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force responded to the blast and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms dispatched a NY arson and explosives task force.
“We will find whoever did this or whatever group did this and they will be brought to justice, period”, he said.
“You have the finest police agencies in the world when you come to NY”.
This comes less than 24 hours after a pipe bomb exploded in Seaside Park in New Jersey.
“I think it’s important to know the facts about any incident like this”, she said.
The explosion coincided with new New York City police commissioner James O’Neill’s first day on the job. It did not detonate.
Twenty-nine people were hurt Saturday night in the blast that shook the neighborhood of Chelsea. Officials said 29 people were injured.
At least 29 persons have been injured after an explosion rocked the bustling Chelsea district of Manhattan in NY on Saturday night.
What we don’t know: So far, authorities have not made any information public about who might be behind the explosion.
Investigators believe the blast was caused by an explosive device in or near a dumpster, a law enforcement source told CNN.
Authorities have not yet taken anyone into custody for being involved with the blast. Police said surveillance video recovered from West 23rd Street shows the explosion, and contains other evidence that indicates to investigators that the original object was intentionally left next to a construction trash container.
“Now, I want to be clear: Whatever the cause, whatever the intention here, New Yorkers will not be intimidated”, he said.
“There is no evidence at this point of a terror connection”, de Blasio said at a news conference after the explosion.
Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton said she had been briefed “about the bombings in NY and New Jersey and the attack in Minnesota”. Police confirmed that a second device was found hours later on West 27th Street – four blocks from the scene of the first explosion.
Hundreds of people were seen fleeing down the block, as police cordoned off the area, the witness said.
As of Sunday morning, police were still seeking to determine whether the item was an explosive and had not detonated it, said NY police Lieutenant Thomas Antonetti. “It felt like a building was coming down”, said the 48-year-old East Harlem resident.
