Leicester kick start their season as they blow away Brugge

Claudio Ranieri says Leicester’s Champions League win at Club Brugge may ignite their season after a sluggish start. “Maybe he’s very exhausted of listening to the “dilly-ding dilly-dong” and he prefers to listen to the Champions League music”.

“Now we have to stay calm and put our mind to the next match on Saturday”.

It felt like a return to the verve and vigour of last season and any fears over damage from Saturday’s 4-1 humbling at Liverpool, their heaviest defeat in over 12 months, were dispelled with a clinical team performance that embarrassed their hosts. “Wake up!'” he explained to BBC Radio Leicester in March.

Leicester City celebrated their first since everlastingly Champions League match by clearing permitted to triumph to Belgium’s Club Brugge. Considering Leicester’s current standing, I hardly doubt this would be the case.

“It’s not easy but it’s OK”. We scored very early and that gave us more confidence during all the match.

The Premier League champions blew the Belgians away as they made their bow in the Champions League, romping to victory with Marc Albrighton scoring after just five minutes and Riyad Mahrez rediscovering his scoring touch with a brace.

Meanwhile, Burnley, who earned a 2-0 home win at home to Liverpool in August, come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Hull after Robert Snodgrass grabbed an equaliser for the Tigers with a last-gasp free-kick.

Islam Slimani has scored nine headed goals in league competition in 2016 – seven for Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese Liga and two for Leicester City in the Premier League.

A superpower ” We played our style.

“He has a special quality in the box”, added the Spaniard.

“We have to slowly discover him”. Burnley maybe think we can be exhausted in the last 15 minutes.

“We conceded a goal after 16 minutes that, at this level and in football, you can not concede”, said the Argentine.

However, they never recovered from conceding the first goal and were probably fortunate to only lose by a three-goal margin.

Leicester hope this season that they can keep their players fit and injury free to have both a successful European and League campaign.

The Clarets attempted two shots on target in this match. We know that’s our bread and butter.

“It is true that we had more chances”. If Burnley beat us, it’s because they are better than us on the day’. It is not new.

“We have to find different ways to win games now too”.
