Giants’ high-priced defence needs to slow down Saints’ Brees
The New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints had a shoot-out for the ages in 2015. If the Saints try single coverage on Beckham, they’ll pay the price. New Orleans held the Raiders to 13 points through three quarters last Sunday, then in the fourth quarter alone they gave up 22 points, on their way to allowing 319 yards passing to Derek Carr.

Still, Beckham probably will have his moments.
Let me take you back to last year’s game real quick. Instead, they’ll be facing future Hall of Famer Drew Brees, who tied an National Football League record with seven touchdown passes in last year’s matchup with the Giants.
After a Week 1 win at the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants are looking to build momentum this Sunday in their home opener. While punter Thomas Morstead will help in winning the field position battle, rookie kicker Wil Lutz will be called upon to forget his two misses against Oakland and possibly win this game for the Saints. Drew Brees and the visiting Saints look for more of the same on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium as they attempt to rebound from a season-opening loss.Brees threw for 505 yards and seven touchdowns in a 52-49 track meet-style victory over the Giants on November 1 and followed in those footsteps with 423 yards passing and four scores in a 35-34 setback to Oakland on Sunday. His touchdowns included a thread-the-needle throw over the middle to Brandin Cooks, and a Saints-record 98-yarder to Cooks with a pass down the left sideline.
“They’re learning on the job right now and there’s a lot of snaps a week ago, things that we’ve got to correct, technique that we’ve got to correct”.
Even the folks over at EA Sports had to do a double-take when they saw the numbers coming out of last year’s game between the Giants and Saints. Last year, the Giants didn’t get their second win until Week 4.
Double-cover Odell Beckham Jr. It will be important for Vernon and the rest of the defensive line to generate more pressure on Sunday or else Brees will pick apart the Giants’ pass defense. The Saints didn’t sack the quarterback and didn’t force a turnover. They face on of their toughest opponents of the year in Brees and the Saints’ offense has just about as many weapons as any other team. “I don’t really look at previous year as any type of indication as to how this is going to go”.
“Not at one time did I feel at any point in the game that we doubted that we were going to win the game”, said Giants linebacker Jonathan Casillas, who was a member of the New Orleans team that won the Super Bowl at the end of the 2009 season.

The Cowboys converted 10 third downs on the Giants last week, tied for the second-most over Kickoff Weekend.
