Texans different team than in playoff loss to Chiefs

The Chiefs beat the Texans twice past year, to open the season and then in the playoffs.

The Texans exacted some revenge on the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday with a 19-12 victory at NRG Stadium. That’s important against anyone, especially a tough team like the Chiefs. He had been a workhorse with 4.9 yards per carry in eight first-half attempts.

Osweiler, who finished with 268 yards passing, connected with Hopkins on a 27-yard touchdown pass on the next play to make it 7-0. However when your offense is having a turnover fest, it is not hard as to why the defense collapsed in the second half. The Chiefs will have both of their starting guards out for this game, so Zach Fulton and Jah Reid are the next men up. Both defenses are good but have their weak points, both offenses can move the ball and also have their down periods.

Cornerback Marcus Peters had a roller-coaster first half. Fuller bobbled the ball before securing it. The Texans still had to settle for a field goal. Another unsportsmanlike penalty will lead to an ejection for Peters. The Chiefs gave up 155 rushing yards and two rushing TDs to Danny Woodhead and Melvin Gordon, along with five receptions for 31 yards and one TD to Woodhead through the air. While this is nice in theory the Texans will be bringing the heat all game with one of the best pass rush crews in the league. He did in the second half when the Texans turned up the pressure on Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who absorbed five sacks and was hit an additional 13 times.

The four-time Pro Bowler was listed as doubtful on Friday’s National Football League injury report and is expected to miss his second straight game after playing in only five contests a year ago. I was not a believer in Brock Osweiler entering the season, but he was able to put enough together to win his first game as a Texans rather comfortably. They need to go to that well again this week.

Kansas City is facing a much better defense this week, than last week. Ware was phenomenal in the season opener with 199 total yards and a touchdown against the Chargers. This doesn’t bode well for the Chiefs considering Pro Football Focus ranks San Diego’s offensive line as the fourth-worst unit in the NFL, while Houston’s is ranked 11th overall.
