Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, whose film PINK is in theatres now, said that while talking to him foreigners call India, “the land of rapes” and a third world country. I want that to go.
“I hate it when I go overseas and people say, “You are from a third world country or you are from a developing country”. We all must work to make India a first world nation, a developed country”, Bachchan said at a press conference of the film. We are a country and women should be safe in every part. I am born and brought up in urban areas- may that be Delhi or Mumbai. We are one as a country, and women should be safe in every part. If an incident occurs in Delhi the whole nation feels bad and gets anxious.
The Piku actor also said that their shouldn’t be any gender discrimination; a guy should also be questioned about his virginity like girls. “There should be no discrimination”. Expressing his take on the issue, he shares, “While we were doing film promotions, we were often asked questions revolving around the movie Pink, its title and storyline”.
“That’s when Shoojit suggested me to write a summary of the film in a letter and send it to my granddaughters”.
So now should there be a letter written to boys too?
“All of us had been through that experience while we were making this film”. We should tell them what is wrong and what is right. “I am not shy to admit that even at 74, there were scenes that moved me”, Amitabh said.
