Julia Louis-Dreyfus Reveals Her Father Has Died During Emmys Acceptance Speech
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is sorry that her satirical HBO show, “Veep”, has become way too much like the actual world of politics.

William Louis-Dreyfus’ wealth was estimated by Forbes at $3.4 billion in 2006, and before his death he donated expensive works of art to a Harlem charity.
The 55-year-old star tragically revealed her dad, William Louis-Dreyfus, recently died at age 84 during her Outstanding Lead Actress Emmys acceptance speech on Sunday, Sept. 18.
The “Seinfeld” alum got visibly emotional when accepting her record-breaking award. Even though the win was such a happy moment for Julia, she was clearly devastated over the heartbreaking loss of her billionaire businessman father. “I’d like to thank [producer] Frank Rich, who helped me trick Dave”, she said on stage at L.A.’s Microsoft Theater, appearing to shake even during the amusing moments.
“I’d like to dedicate this to my father, William Louis-Dreyfus, who passed away on Friday”, the actress told the audience.
“I’m so glad that he liked “Veep” because his opinion is the only one that really mattered”, she said through tears. “I’d like to thank the writers, cast and the best crew in television”.
Before thanking her father, Julia went on to roast presidential candidate Donald Trump. “While I’m apologizing, I’d also like to take this opportunity to personally apologize for the current political climate”, she said.
The show, Louis-Dreyfus admitted, felt “like a sobering commentary, I would like to rebuild that wall and have Mexico pay for it”.
