New Chinese owners won’t change much at West Brom, says manager Pulis

West Brom were on the front foot from the first whistle.

Pulis, whose side host West Ham on Saturday, is into the final year of the two-and-a-half-year contract he signed on New Year’s Day 2015, but the Welshman is not anxious about his own future or a new deal.

West Brom have announced that their takeover by Chinese group Yunyi Guokai Sports Development Limited has been completed.

Pulis future continues to be shrouded in doubt with reports that the Welshman have been considering his position, after another disappointing transfer window. Although Aaron Cresswell, Diafra Sakho, Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew are out for the medium term medical chief Stijn Vandenbroucke says they have all been out running.

Not quite as badly as the West Ham defence but that’s for Slaven Bilic to sort out. The Hornets equalised on the stroke of half-time in Stratford, before a James Collins own goal and an Etienne Capoue strike saw Walter Mazzari’s take an unlikely three points.

That made the second half all about damage limitation and with Mark Noble and Zaza now withdrawn, Jonathan Calleri and Sofaine Feghouli were asked to try and turn the tide.

There are problems at the back for West Ham, shipping 17 goals in their last seven games including a capitulation last time out to concede four against Watford after going 2-0 up. I didn’t see it like that to be fair. It might look like that for some people but I think he said that because they turned the game around. We’ve had a good meeting and now I’m waiting for the reaction tomorrow.

Bilic will undoubtedly make changes to his starting XI, but will still expect his side to be more than strong enough to see off their League Two opponents. We had a really good meeting and now we are waiting for the reaction of the team.

“Even last week at Bournemouth, we had a very good passage of play, should be scoring, if you score you go on and win the game”.
