Modi meets Chinese Premier Li on sidelines of EAS

The East Asia Summit later in the day will be attended by leaders of the 10 Asean nations and those of India, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the U.S. and Russian Federation.

Among the world leaders present for his speech were US President Barack Obama and Chinese premier Li Keqiang.

Modi tried to revive ties with Pakistan since coming to power two years ago, but those efforts have floundered, especially after an attack on an Indian air force base in Pathankot in January.

At the 11th East Asia Summit, leaders will discuss matters of regional and global interest and concerns including maritime security, terrorism, non-proliferation and irregular migration.
