Feds to check tire in bus crash that killed 4

A bus carrying a JUCO football team got into a severe accident in North Carolina on Saturday.. Tyreak Thompson is one of the football players released from the hospital.

Troopers believe a blown out front tire caused the bus to hit the guardrail in the median.

Troopers said the Ramah Juco Academy football team from Rock Hill, SC was on board the bus. He said all of his teammates attend Clinton College in Rock Hill, SC.

“We will need your help and your assistance”, Rev. Maurice Harden of New Mount Olivet AME Zion Church, which is located near the school’s campus in Rock Hill, tells the Observer.

Lashondria Guinn is a close family friend whose nephew, LJ, played on the Cowboys team with Darice, and said the young player showed his dad’s talent for football.

Clinton College, where Gibson and Hicks were students, announced on Facebook Sunday afternoon that they were canceling Monday’s classes. During the brief time that we have had these young men, they have become entrenched parts of the Clinton College family.

The wreck happened about 70 miles (113 kilometers) southeast of Charlotte. All passengers hurt in the crash were taken to local hospitals.

“I saw people climbing out of the windows and I said, ‘Oh my God, ‘ ” Joseph Bernardini said.
