Twitteratis have expressed shock and disgust over the incident.

She has remained silent since – her last tweet, at 11 am, contains a map with a red dot indicating the exact location where she said the incident occurred – she posted 11 tweets in all, most of them reiterating what took place.

She also acknowledged that the other two gentlemen in the photo responded to her distress call. She said the three were on their way to Colaba Police Station with the young man, but that he slipped away en route.

Abdo was however exposed to criticisms from those who condemned her for sharing the picture instead of getting approaching the nearest police station for making a note of the incident. She has also uploaded the picture of the suspect which will help police identify him. Among those who read and tracked it were officials at the Mumbai police’s Social Media Lab, which monitors the internet.

She later took down the post and said that the matter has been handed over to the police.

Others, however, praised her stance and for having the courage to stand up to sexual harassment in India, where in recent years it has reportedly become a growing issue.
