Tatiana Maslany Wins Outstanding Lead Actress Drama at the 2016 Emmys
The actress has played nine (yes, nine!) separate clone characters on the show, from an earthy scientist to a soccer mom to a transgender man.

To the delight of fans who felt it was long overdue, actress Tatiana Maslany won an Emmy for BBC America’s Orphan Black, in which she played eight characters last season. This year, Maslany was up against Davis once again, with other acclaimed actors like Keri Russell (The Americans), Taraji P. Henson (Empire), Robin Wright (House of Cards), and Claire Danes (Homeland) also nominated.
Nervous as Maslany was on Emmy night, she was also glad for the distraction, knowing that “once we start shooting the last season [of Orphan Black], I think I’m going to be extremely sad to be saying goodbye to it”. So it’s been a really connecting thing in terms of the fans and has become something we feel responsible for, continuing to tell those stories. “There’s an huge joy in getting to tell womens’ stories that we don’t normally see”. “I was so happy to meet you even for a second”.
This Emmy win comes after a big year in which she not only had to play new clones, she also took on several other projects – from “BoJack Horseman” to “Robot Chicken” and the film “Two Lovers and a Bear”. And as for Game of Thrones, HBO’s flagship series landed Emmys for Outstanding Writing for showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss; Outstanding Directing for Miguel Sapochnik’s incredible work on the episode “Battle of the Bastards”; and the top prize of the evening, Outstanding Drama Series, for a second consecutive year.

“I felt really creatively stimulated this year”, said Maslany in a recent interview.
