Minnesota mall stabbing was terror attack, says Federal Bureau of Investigation
Anderson did not say where the off-duty officer serves. But he declined to call it an act of terrorism, saying the motive was still unknown.

No one answered the door late Sunday at a home address listed for Falconer, and a voicemail box for a telephone listing was full and not accepting new messages.
They urged the broader community to unite, and said they feared backlash against Somalis living in the area. They also did not comment further on the claim by the Amaq Agency.
Harley and Tama Exsted, of Isle, were in St. Cloud to watch their son play in a college golf tournament and were in the mall when the attack happened.
A spokesman for St. Cloud State University confirmed that Adan was a student there, but has not been enrolled since the spring semester.
He says police didn’t mention the attack on the mall, but they seized photos and other materials from the family’s apartment.
“Gun free zones” are a target of choice for mass public attackers and terrorists alike.
The attacker charged at Falconer, who fired his weapon, causing him to fall down, the Guardian reported.
Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
According to the above tweet, the suspect was “a soldier of the Islamic state”.
“We’re now investigating this as a potential act of terrorism, and I do say ‘potential, ‘” Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Richard Thornton, of the agency’s Minneapolis office, said at the news conference.
But both New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said there was no indication it was linked to global terrorism.
An off-duty officer was reportedly responsible for fatally shooting the suspect in Macy’s.
Officials said Falconer shot the suspect when the suspect lunged at him. The governor also offered his support for the nine victims, three of which were still hospitalized on Sunday. “They were screaming, ‘Someone’s stabbing people in the mall, ‘ and people were just really frantic and were running”. “The other guy it looked like he had just been stabbed in the back and his whole back of his shirt, it was grey but it was covered in blood”. The men screamed to get out of the mall because someone had a knife.
The news of the St. Cloud mall was shocking to the friends, relatives, and the community of the deceased. The Associated Press reported they were taken to hospitals.
This attack is an affront to the people of Minnesota, and we need to do everything that we can to prevent attacks like these from happening.
“The lone suspect was wearing a private security uniform and had at least one knife”, the police chief said.
The St. Cloud mall remained on lockdown following the attack, but authorities expected those remaining inside to be released early Sunday.
An off-duty police officer from another jurisdiction shot and killed the suspect, said St Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson.
An ISIS run-news agency claimed a connection to the attack, calling the man a “soldier of the Islamic State”, as NPR’s Alison Meuse reports.
Numerous attacks that the terrorist group has claimed since the highly coordinated shootings and bombings in Paris last November were carried out by individuals who were simply inspired by the group’s ideology and likely never came into direct contact with ISIS operatives, The Post’s Max Bearak wrote in July.
The terrorist group on Sunday claimed responsibility for the attack. One person was admitted.
