But both New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said there was no indication it was linked to global terrorism.

“The lone suspect was wearing a private security uniform and had at least one knife”, the police chief said.
The St. Cloud mall remained on lockdown following the attack, but authorities expected those remaining inside to be released early Sunday.

An ISIS run-news agency claimed a connection to the attack, calling the man a “soldier of the Islamic State”, as NPR’s Alison Meuse reports.
