Days after Chaudhry’s invitation, India formally rejected Pakistan’s proposal to hold exclusive talks on the issue of Kashmir and said it will only discuss the issue of terrorism alleged infiltration of militants with Pakistan.
Calling upon the United Nations to fulfill its obligation in accordance with its own resolutions, he said: “The movement of Kashmiris will ultimately succeed as the history has precedents that such movements could not be suppressed with oppression”.
The government of Pakistan has been criticised for making futile attempts to raise the Kashmir issue on an global platform.
Pakistan is likely to respond by asserting that India is responsible for promoting militancy in Balochistan.
“The fact that we do not comment on the abysmal rights situations in other parts of India, is not due to lack of awareness of the shameful record of the Indian State”.
The Prime Minister also warned India to stop atrocities in the Indian-held Kashmir.
The Pakistan’s delegation to the United Nations Human Rights Council strongly rebutted India’s untenable stance on Jammu and Kashmir and slammed its persistent interference in Balochistan.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in NY on Sunday to attend the 71st UN General Assembly where he plans to highlight gross human rights violations in Indian-held Kashmir, Dawn News reported.
The human rights violations and killings in Indian occupied Kashmir are far greater compared to the crimes committed in Balochistan, said Hussain. “There is a despicable human rights situation in Manipur, Mizuram, Tripura, and Assam, and ethnic groups in India’s north-east have been battling for their rights since many decades in the face of awful repression”, it said.
Prime Minister Sharif has also appointed 20 special envoys to travel across the globe for drawing attention to the situation in Kashmir.
