26 injured after explosion reported in New York City

The explosion came just after 8:30 p.m. ET at 133 W. 23rd St., between Sixth and Seventh Avenue in a neighborhood known for its vibrant nightlife.

Officials haven’t revealed any details about the makeup of the pressure-cooker device, except to say it had wires and a cellphone attached to it.
The official said the device was found inside a plastic bag on West 27th Street.

Earlier Sunday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the bombing didn’t appear to have any link to global terrorism.

Chelsea resident Michelle Leifer was walking her dog in Madison Square Park when she “heard a loud boom and felt rumbling”, she tld ABC News. The device was taken to Rodman’s Neck facility in the Bronx where it can undergo a controlled explosion, if need be.
