Some 170 treated for heat-related illnesses during Rams game

Greg Zuerlein drew first blood on a 39-yard field goal in the first quarter to put Los Angeles ahead, and he nailed a 28-yarder 1:08 from halftime to put the Rams up 6-3.

The Rams had not played a regular season game at the cavernous Coliseum since 1979, with the franchise moving to nearby Anaheim later that year before heading further afield after the 1994 season, to St. Louis, for the next two decades.

The Rams hadn’t played a real game in the Coliseum since December 16, 1979, when they lost to New Orleans in their regular-season finale. There were 91,000 fans in attendance for this game per Troy Aikman on the FOX broadcast.

The Rams finally launched another scoring drive with 4:20 remaining in the first half. He was not joined by receiver Kenny Britt, who raised his fist before the Rams’ opener.

The Seahawks (1-1) turned out to be ideal guests for this party – but not because they wanted to be. That sealed the result, and Rams quarterback Case Keenum took a knee to end the contest.

The Rams hadn’t played a football game that mattered in Southern California since December 24, 1994, when they left Angel Stadium in Anaheim and moved to St. Louis.

Lockett led the Hawks with 99 receiving yards on four catches.

The first half couldn’t have gone much better for a Rams defense that was subpar the previous week against the 49ers, other than a handful of poor penalties.

While the Rams defense was doing a great job keeping Seattle off the board, the offense wasn’t holding up its end of the bargain. Once Rawls got hurt and with Wilson playing on a sprained ankle, Seattle’s running game was basically down to Michael and rookie fifth-round pick Alex Collins. Seattle’s defense limited Dolphins to 3-for-14 performance on third downs last week.

Russell Wilson completed 22-of-35 passes for 254 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions in the Seahawks’ 9-3, Week 2 loss to the Rams. Wilson was not as effective because of the pressure and the containment the Rams placed on him.

“He put that pass right on the money”, Hill said of Wilson. “That was just one of them”.

Fans packed into the rows of seats near the famed Coliseum tunnel two hours before kickoff, cheering wildly for the Rams taking the field for warmups and booing the Seahawks – even Richard Sherman, the star cornerback who grew up just a few miles away in Compton. As the running back dives for the line, a tackle from Barron causes the ball to pop out and linebacker Alec Ogletree is first to react, reclaiming possession for the Rams, who can let the clock run down.

The Seahawks knew they faced a tough test offensively going into the game.
