The second-year running back showed his big-play potential with a 47-yard catch from Ryan, affirming expectations he’ll play a bigger role this season.
After Matt Bryant’s second field goal pushed the Falcons ahead 13-10, Winston went to work again with less than 2 minutes to go in the first half.
Matt Ryan found Mohamed Sanu for an explosive 59-yard pass. Ryan was not the reason the Falcons came up short against the Buccaneers at home in this one.

It’s a task they’ll be well-equipped to handle: Atlanta’s run D improved substantially previous year and, having added a lot of speed through the draft, is on track to get even better in 2016. They managed only first down before the Bucs closed it out. “Obviously, that’s something that will come up”, Ryan said. If we expect Julio to go insane, it has to be because Matt Ryan gets him there.
