Bucs’ Jameis Winston rebounds from early mistake to lead Bucs

Dirk Koetter makes his debut as Tampa Bay’s coach, and his success working with Winston as the offensive coordinator past year has prompted high hopes for the quarterback’s second pro season.

Jameis Winston was very impressive as a rookie.

A Bills official said the two players could have waited for a second team bus leaving from the hotel. “Let’s do it 15 more times this year”.

Winston is on the way up as he enters his second National Football League season and it is unclear what direction Ryan is heading.

Ancient Rome anyone? Seriously though, Winston, Evans, and Martin could take this game over if the Falcons aren’t careful.

“Either way we feel comfortable”, head coach Dan Quinn said. He finished the game with 281 yards on 33 throws for an average of 8.52 yards per pass attempt.

Winston threw the deep ball well on several occasions in Sunday’s game, most notably on touchdown passes of 30 yards to Austin Seferian-Jenkins and 45 yards to Mike Evans.

If not for a costly pass interference call, the Bucs likely wouldn’t have gotten on the board at all in the first quarter. There was a breakdown between the quarterback and receiver, as Jackson broke outside while Winston’s threw to the inside. The second-year running back showed his big-play potential with a 47-yard catch from Ryan, affirming expectations he’ll play a bigger role this season.

After Matt Bryant’s second field goal pushed the Falcons ahead 13-10, Winston went to work again with less than 2 minutes to go in the first half.

Matt Ryan found Mohamed Sanu for an explosive 59-yard pass. Ryan was not the reason the Falcons came up short against the Buccaneers at home in this one.

The Atlanta Falcons defense struggled mightily against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 31-24 loss.

To their credit, the Falcons didn’t quit in their final season opener at the Georgia Dome before moving next door to $1.4 billion Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Both teams missed out on the playoffs a year ago, and are looking to take a step in the right direction in their division on Sundays. The Raiders defeated the Saints 35-34 when they went for a two-point conversion with 47 seconds left. It’s a task they’ll be well-equipped to handle: Atlanta’s run D improved substantially previous year and, having added a lot of speed through the draft, is on track to get even better in 2016. They managed only first down before the Bucs closed it out. “Obviously, that’s something that will come up”, Ryan said. If we expect Julio to go insane, it has to be because Matt Ryan gets him there.

NO SACKS: The Falcons may be exhausted of hearing they ranked last in the league with 19 sacks last season and have ranked no higher than 28th since 2012.
