NVIDIA still working on the GTX 950 Ti

As a replacement to the GeForce GTX 750 Ti Nvidia is planning to release its new GeForce GTX 950 graphics card later this week on August 20th. The report didn’t mention a price, however, but given the fact that the 950 is positioned as the middle-of-the-road option right between the $200 Dollars GeForce GTX 960 and the $150 GTX 750ti, it stands to reason that the price will also fall somewhere in the middle of that range. Some people will be displeased at this card as a replacement for the GTX 750 (Ti) as with its 90W TDP it requires a 6-pin power connector. Memory is also being doubled up to 2GB of GDDR5, though it will operate over the same bus width. Its base and boost core clocks are 1089 MHz and 1266MHz respectively while the memory runs at an effective 6.6GHz. This type of card can handle most video games with relative ease.

Versus the two-generation old GTX 650 – still the most popular mainstream GPU according to Steam surveys – GTX 950 is promising significant frame rate improvements with newer games, according to Nvidia.

Nvidia has a new entry-level GPU out in the GTX 950, and it’s the least expensive new-generation chip on the market at the moment. In terms of outputs, it has 1x DVI, 1x HDMI, and 3x DP-the same as the GTX 960.

The GeForce GTX 950 Ti is in development and it is unclear when exactly it will be released, but since unofficial information about it continues to circulate, it looks like Nvidia has plans to launch it.

The GTX 950 SSC boasts EVGA’s ACX 2.0 cooling system, which we’ve seen used to great effect before with the GTX 960 and various other GPUs. One pushes fan RPMs as low as they can go when the card is idle, to reduce noise levels, while the “SSC Performance BIOS” keeps the pedal to the metal.
