Software: The phone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based TouchWiz UI. The smartphone sports a 13MP rear camera with 5MP front camera.
The handset comes with a 5.5 inch display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and it features an octa core processor and 3GB of RAM.
This is a dual-SIM smartphone which supports 4G LTE. The smartphone is rocking a quad-core Exynos processor, paired with 2GB of RAM. Powering the smartphone is a decent 3300mAh battery. On the camera side, we are looking at a 5-megapixel front facing camera and it is kept powered by a 2,400 mAh battery. The rear camera supports full-HD video recording. The fingerprint scanner that was missing in the original Galaxy J7 has been brought with the upgrade. The Galaxy J5 Prime, just like its pricier sibling, competes against Lenovo’s Moto G4 Plus and Vibe K5 Note.
Samsung has finally launched its latest addition to the Galaxy J series of smartphones, the new Galaxy J5 Prime in India yesterday which is slated to sport a small but significant improvement over the Galaxy J5 which was launched earlier this year at a price of approximately Rs.11,000 on Flipkart. The company has also detailed a Vodafone bundled data offer for Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy J5 Prime customers, wherein they pay for 1GB of data and get 9GB of data free over three months. Samsung has also introduced two exclusive features – S Power planning and S Secure.

Faults in the production of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 leading to a global recall of 2.5 million devices may have been caused by the company’s eagerness to outmaneuver Apple. The Galaxy J5 Prime will start shipping by the end of September.
