Another rift? Shivpal Yadav expels Ram Gopal’s kin from Samajwadi Party
She said law and order had gone from bad to worse in the state, and now the communal clash in Bijnore had exposed the failures of the Akhilesh government, but the responsibility for the Samajwadi Party’s defeat will be pinned on Shivpal’s shoulders and Akhilesh will emerge unscathed, the BSP chief claimed.

Uttar Pradesh’s Samajwadi Party chief Shivpal Yadav on Sunday expelled senior leader Ram Gopal Yadav from the party, as well as member of the legislative council Arvind Pratap Yadav and former panchayat leader from Saifai, Akhilesh Kumar Yadav (who is also Ram Gopal’s nephew), reported The Telegraph. These include four MLCs and some other party leaders.
It was Shivpal who was the real guardian when Akhilesh got married to Dimple and the two first came to his residence.Recently, when Shivpal’s son Aditya got married, Akhilesh and Dimple led from the front in welcoming guests at their Saifai house. “Besides SP, the Centre is responsible for the present state of UP”, she alleged.
The new Samajwadi Party UP president Shivpal Yadav on Monday sacked seven leaders, including three MLCs, for anti-party activities and statements against supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The series of sackings came even as the feud in Uttar Pradesh’s first family had apparently ended after Akhilesh Yadav restored all but one portfolios of Shivpal Yadav and promised to support him as the Samajwadi Party’s state president, a post from which he was himself removed last week triggering the power tussle with his uncle. It took over three days of drama for Mulayam to finally placate his son as well as brother.
Addressing party workers, Shivpal said that as elections were near, everyone should gear up to strengthen the party for forming a majority government again. We should all come together and work. “But there is a fault of our people as well, who spoke to media”. Akhilesh and Shivpal have been locked in a fierce battle for control of the party and ticket distribution.
