“The FBI is executing a search warrant”, Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage said on CNN.

Police detonated a suspicious package early on Monday near a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey, following concerns that it might contain a live explosive device, the city’s mayor said. One exploded when a bomb squad robot tried to disarm it.

Authorities early on Monday were working to remove the other devices found in the backpack, Bollwage said. A message left with the Federal Bureau of Investigation wasn’t immediately returned. New Jersey-bound Amtrak trains were being held at New York Penn Station, officials said, while New York-bound Amtrak trains were being held in Trenton.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, the FBI and NYPD conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle of interest in the investigation, according to a statement from FBI.

A spokesman for the New York Police Department declined to confirm the reports, only saying that the probe was ongoing.

Yesterday evening, two men found the backpack in the garbage can and alerted the police when they saw wires and a pipe.

In the video, the man leaves the duffel bag where police later found the unexploded pressure cooker. Police then informed Union County Bomb Squad. Authorities found five devices in the bag. Authorities were trying to determine if they were connected. Both New Jersey Transit and Amtrak warned of delays following the incident.

Train passengers reported being stuck on Amtrak and NJ Transit trains for hours Sunday night, while some trains moved in reverse to let passengers off at other stations.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so.

The investigation into the series of bombs that have rocked NY and New Jersey over the past two days is now centered on Elizabeth, where federal authorities are conducting a raid on Rahami’s apartment above a fried chicken restaurant on Elmora Avenue.

No injuries were reported in the incident and no more detonations will be done, according to reports. Investigators believe the blast was caused by an explosive device in or near a dumpster, a law enforcement source told CNN. We will continue to provide additional information once the area has been cleared.
